The Episcopal Church  in Navajoland

Wóshdééʼ! Welcome!

Our Mission is to address the spiritual, social, and economic

needs of Navajo and other Native Peoples through worship,

education, training, and social engagement.

The Episcopal Church began a medical mission in Ft. Defiance, Arizona, in 1894, Farmington, NM, in 1922, and Bluff, UT, in 1942. All real Missions started as Medical Missions. In 1978, the Episcopal Church founded the Area Mission on the 27,000 square miles in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, contiguous with the Navajo Nation. Until recently, our buildings were falling into disrepair, and leadership and vision came from non-native clergy.

We hope you can join us tomorrow morning on Zoom!

Last November, we launched a series on Episcopal Church faith, practice, and structure, and the first session was titled “The Episcopal Way.” This series will provide the necessary background as we prepare for future discussions regarding ECN’s new Constitution and Canons. The Episcopal Way: Constitutions and Canons- Church Governance will be a 90-minute Zoom session on January 10th, 2025, at 10 AM.

Hozho Winter Story Sharing II

Join Us This Saturday on Zoom:
Understanding the Navajo Hogan Song
This season, Rev. Cornelia and special guest Walter Shorty will guide us through the rich cultural and spiritual significance of the Navajo Hogan Song. Walter, a local resident of Bluff, Utah, is a proud member of St. Christopher’s Mission. He has extensive knowledge of Navajo traditions and leads summer pilgrimages. Walter’s experience and connection to the land will deepen our understanding of this important tradition, and Rev. Cornelia will share her stories and wisdom as they lead this engaging discussion.
Don’t miss out! Join us this Saturday on Zoom as we learn together and celebrate Navajo culture.
