Navajoland Convocation 2025
June 6th & 7th, 2025
Good Shepherd Mission
Fort. Defiance, Arizona

Náásgóó Iiná Baa Hózhó- Going forward life is beautiful
June 6 & 7 | Good Shepherd Mission, Fort Defiance, Arizona
This year, we are introducing a new approach to our Diocesan Convocation/Convention by dividing it into two distinct gatherings, each with its own purpose and significance. The first meeting, scheduled for June, will be a business-only session specifically for Navajoland elected leaders. This will be a focused time to address essential matters such as elections, canonical changes, and proposed resolutions—much like how we traditionally gather in the spring and summer to tend to business, farming, livestock, and gathering herbs.
The second convocation, which will take place later in the year, will be open to all guests and serve as a celebratory gathering. Reflecting our traditional winter practices of coming together in a “Hooghan nímazí” (round earthen house), this gathering will focus on community togetherness, sharing teachings, celebrating achievements, and offering prayer songs. It will be a time for reflection, learning, and honoring our shared traditions.
In this way, we aim to blend our cultural practices with the church’s mission, creating a space for both business and celebration at different times of the year.

The convocation agenda, proposed resolutions, nominations, and lodging information will be available at a later date. The business meeting in June will be recorded and livestreamed for your convenience, as will the celebratory gathering later in the year, ensuring all members can participate, whether in person or remotely.
Community Recognition Healing Prayer Service
For many years now, we’ve started each convocation with a Friday evening healing service. This June, we’ll keep that tradition alive, coming together for a time of prayer, healing, and recognition.
Healing Prayer Focuses:
We welcome prayers for any group or organization that’s working towards justice and healing, such as:
-
Those fighting for equality and human rights
-
Groups supporting victims of violence and trauma
-
Communities impacted by injustice and discrimination
-
Movements that focus on healing, reconciliation, and restoration
Prayers from Our Community:
We invite you to bring your prayers for these causes, or for any organization or group that’s making a difference. We’ll gather all the prayers from our community, so they can be included in the healing service.
Submit Your Prayers:
If you’d like to share a prayer, you can bring it with you to the service, or send it in beforehand. You can send your prayers or submissions below, and we’ll make sure they’re part of the healing circle.
Let’s come together in strength, unity, and healing, for our people and our world.
